초록본문(Abstract) | The study of the temporal variability of rainfall is the important impact on agricultural productivity, tourism industry, and daily life. We use the monthly rainfall data of 62 years, 1951-2012, with Morlet wavelet analysis to analyze the rainfall variability in southern Thailand , both in the East Coast (Gulf of Thailand) and the West Coast (Andaman sea). Since the wavelet allows analyzing different scales of temporal variability and it does not need a stationary series (Santos et.al., 2001). So, wavelet analysis is appropriate to analyze unregular distributed events and time series that contain nonstationary power at many different frequencies. The wavelet power spectra show that in the West Coast has the periodic oscillation of 8-16 months. Meanwhile, there were many events of oscillations occur on the East Coast. The global wavelet spectra confirmed an annual frequency in the West and showed two significant peaks (an annual frequency and a half-year frequency) in the East. We then use the 8-16 month scale-average time series to measure the average rainfall series variance with time. |
