초록본문(Abstract) | For more than a century, Japan has been attempted to find ways to help support school teachers to improve their daily practices. In 1872, lesson study has been developed as a tool for teachers and this year Japanese teacher education celebrated 140 anniversary of ‘Lesson Study.’ Again during 1960s, Japanese mathematics education community has developed ‘Open-ended Approach’ as a teaching approach to evaluate students’ mathematical thinking in order to prepare their young generation for entering 21st century. Since 1990s, a number of countries have been struggling to adapt these Japanese education heritages to improve teacher education and mathematics education in their own countries. Thailand is an example in the previous decade attempted to adapt both lesson study and Open Approach into Thailand schools. Thailand’s success has been sharing among APEC member economies since 2006. The author will address this issue in this conference with an intention that Asian experience will be useful and sharable with other parts of the world. |
