Emmy Noether (1882-1935) is well known for her famous contributions to abstract algebra and theoretical physics. In abstract algebra, she made great contributions to the theories of algebraic invariants and number fields, the theory of ideals, non-commutative algebras, and the representation theory. She is also well known for her theorem, which united two conceptual pillars in physics: symmetry in nature and the universal laws of conservation.

This focus session, which celebrates her great legacy in mathematics and theoretical physics, will bring researchers from Emmy Noether’s related research areas.

Deep learning techniques have expanded our ability by sophisticated “disentangled hierarchical representation learning” though training data. They appear to overcome limitations of existing mathematical methods in handling various industrial problems. Deep learning methods will improve their performance as accumulating experience and training data over time. The focus of this session is multidisciplinary deep learning researches that enable innovative ways to solve challenging problems.

Talks are invited in any area of the mathematical science, with acceptance at the discretion of the organizers. Nonlinear differential equations have been extensively and intensively studied for modeling of several phenomena in engineering, biological and physical systems, for instance, nonconvex stochastic optimization, swarming behavior and phase transition. For the modeling, nonlinear differential equations arise in different scales: microscopic, mesoscopic and macroscopic. Hence, several mathematical tools are crucially required to investigate such equations, to name a few, dynamical system theory, variational techniques, conservation law, etc. In this special session, we discuss state-of-the-art results on modeling, analysis and numerical analysis for nonlinear differential equations.
